- There is no surprise here, I notice the same thing with my JVC TV and
- Pioneer LD. I think the explanation is simple... I'm sure somebody
- will point out my errors:

- The LD component 'converts' composite video to S-Video and outputs it
- via it's S-Video out. The LD composite video is output directly
- via the composite out.

- The monitor wants S-Video (sep. chrom. and lum.), so composite inputs
- are `converted' into S-Video (in effect) before it goes to the tube.
- S-Video input does not need this conversion so the S signal skips this
- step in the monitor.

- If the LD component has a better composite to S converter than the
- TV, then your picture benefits by having the LD do the conversion.

- If the monitor has a better composite to S converter than the LD, then
- your picture benefits by having the monitor do the conversion.

- Apparently, from our sample of 2, Pioneer LD players do a better
- conversion than Sony or JVC TVs.
