- There is a difference, subtle though it may be. How many reel-to-reel
- tape drives (other than audio) have you seen in private homes? For
- better or worse, Photo-CD is aimed largely at the home mass-market.
- Just imagine, if Kodak floods the market with Photo-CD players and
- other hardware (admittedly difficult to imagine at their current
- prices) there still might be some around in the future of SuperHDTV and
- home supercomputers. And the labs of service bureaus such as those now
- making significant income transferring home movies to video (I'll pass
- on the value judgement of that activity :-). That's certainly not to
- say that the CD format _will_ be around for very long -- actually, I'd
- be surprised if it were. However, we do still have black and white
- TVs. And it's not really that hard to find something on which to play
- 78 RPM records, is it? And people _still_ use Apple IIs, after all.
