- The Sony TR101 and its sibblings has a feature called a "zoom
- microphone." When you have the camera set in the normal
- microphone position, the left and right stereo microphones pick up
- the sound. When you manually switch to the zoom microphone, it
- continues to use the two side microphones when shooting at wide
- angle, but gradually switches to what appears to be a third center
- mounted microphone as you move toward telephoto. I have used this
- at football games, and it does result in a moderate increase in
- the sound coming from a huddle when you are zoomed in in the zoom
- mike position. However, the difference is not huge, so you should
- not expect this to act like a parabolic reflector.
