- And I thought I did well. My wife suddenly decided my son was growing
- up too fast so I went from camcorder-ignorant and uninterested to an
- owner in less than 24 hours. After talking with a salesman at the
- Good Guys, I also selected a TR-81 and after plunking down $1199,
- walked out with one. I got it home, played with it, (amazing what they
- can put in such a small package) and the following day went shopping
- for extra batteries, case, tripod, etc. and - lo and behold, at
- San Jose Sony/Honda, they were offering it in a package for $1055.
- This package included a nice Lowe minicam case. They also knocked 25%
- off the price of all the accessories I bought (which were not overpriced
- to begin with). I bought one there and made use of the Good Guys no-questions
- asked return policy. While of somewhat questionable ethics, its kind of
- nice to buy something at the Good Guys to see if you really like it and then
- if you find a better price that they won't match (San Jose Sony/Honda does
- not advertise, so I don't think the Good Guys will match their price), simply
- return it. I will eventually be in the market for a new 31 or 35 inch
- hi-res television to hook up to my satellite dish. Choosing a tv
- off the salesroom floor is really difficult since they feed all the sets
- with such crummy signals.
