- There's been some discussions of the Pioneer CLD-D701 laser disc
- player with digital field store, but has anyone looked at the
- Panasonic LX-1000 or LX-900? I saw both of these at the Good Guys
- recently and compared the LX-900 to the D701. The LX-900 apparently
- replaces the LX-1000 and lists for $1000 (I think the LX-1000 listed
- for $1200). I thought the LX-900 freezed frame looked sharper than
- the equivalent frame on the D701 (I was examining an image on a CLV
- disc). Also, the LX-900 display shows minutes, seconds and frame
- number (0..29 {at least for the CLV disc I was looking at} with in
- the second), whereas the D701 does not.
-
- I think most of the other features (jog/shuttle, auto reverse) are
- common between the two. I called Panasonic and requested some
- information on their players since The Good Guys didn't seem to have
- any. The Good Guys was also the only dealer Panasonic listed. One
- thing I like about the Pioneer remote is the lighted primary
- controls (play, still, stop etc).
-
- So, has anyone else looked at the LX-900 and/or have any comments
- about it? or know of a good place to pick one up at at a good price
- (Good Guys had it for $999). I will probably look at it again and do
- another side by side comparison (well, they usually only have one TV
- and one disc) since the Good Guys I went to had their laser player
- display close to their front door which let in a fair amount of
- light.
