- Well, I really didn't want to waste bandwidth by posting my opinion on
- something like this, but it surely seems to be an upcoming issue for the
- group... I'm not ever sure there is an answer to this in something like
- the FAQ.
-
- For those of you who would rather not read this, I'm sure 'n' is only a
- keystroke away...

-
- I also did not see any posts against the idea -- most seemed to be
- more like "how can I better get hold of this" and related topics. To
- me, it seems like this one person is the only objector to binaries being
- posted out here -- the rest of us just use our 'n' or 'e' keys as
- appropriate.

-
- From the tones of the original posters comments, it's not the site that
- has the problem with it, it is the subscriber -- at least, that's the
- impression I got from it.

-
- I, too, am waiting for this... but this goes off to my previous post of
- "splitting the group to avoid issues like this from coming up" -- as of
- today, I have received NO response on it; email or otherwise.
-

-
- That would be cool... except for the fact that they all seem to have
- problems -- I have yet to see one that operated smoothly and
- efficiently. I would assume that they require a great deal of
- maintenance...

-
- My vote: NO.
-
- I do not understand why this person has such a hard time using his
- "skip" key -- I use mine effectively, otherwise I could not get through
- the volume of messages that I do in an afternoon.
-
- I've already emailed this person asking for the reasoning behind their
- objection and have received no reply as of yet -- and I caught the
- original message minutes after it posted here.
-
- Sorry, I guess I'm being over-critical. All the other groups that I
- subscribe to have a real nasty habit of business-as-usual and not
- giving any one person any sort power over what goes on with the group.
- That is, a message like this original one would tend to incite a flame
- list of about a hundred messages.
-
-
- My main objections to posting the pictures in alt.binaries.pictures:
- 1. This group is for roller-coasters and the discussion arising from
- such -- a picture of a coaster is pretty specific and still pertains
- to the discussion group. There is no reason why it should be
- disallowed or frowned upon.
- If there is a problem with this, I think that we should think of
- finding a way to split the group (maybe a bit extreme, but
- effective.)
- 2. Alt.binaries.pictures is a mess of a group and often quite a
- newsfeed. Sorry, but I don't want to wade through that mess to
- pull out a few coaster pictures. To say the least, that group gets
- A LOT of traffic, on average -- and postings there are often split
- between threads (and the group is too large to thread effectively).
- 3. One person has never had this much effect on such a large group;
- especially when telling them to stop a certain portion of their
- "discussion or thread" because they personally did not want to see
- it. I don't understand why it should start now, although the
- gesture <is> quite pleasant.
-
- Do I need to calm down and take some valium or does this make any
- semblance of sense? I'm sorry... I'm getting over a cold and not too
- hospitable right now...
