  17. i am really sorry to have caused you or anybody else undue hardship.
  18. i have seen images and binary files posted here recently (for example,
  19. ken denton's 9-part gif of drachen fyre) without negative comments.

  21. i based my decision to cross-post to alt.binaries.pictures.misc and
  22. rec.roller-coaster on the following reasons:

  24. 1. for sites that get both groups, it doesn't matter, because
  25.    most versions of news software will only keep one copy of each file.

  27. 2. for sites that don't get alt.binaries.pictures.misc, there would be 
  28.    readers of rec.roller-coaster that would be interested in seeing images 
  29.    they would not otherwise be able to get.

  31. it didn't occur to me that there would be sites where large postings
  32. to rec.roller-coaster would be unwanted.

  38. ken denton <sysop@elan.glassboro.edu> is in the process of setting up an
  39. ftp site of roller coaster images.  i have already talked to him
  40. about adding my images to his site when he gets it set up.
  41. however, it doesn't solve the problem of how users with no access
  42. to ftp could pick up images.  perhaps ken (in his free time :-) could 
  43. also set up an email server.

  45. in any case, it appears that images are not welcome in rec.roller-coaster.
  46. from now on, i will post images only to alt.binaries.pictures.misc, and
  47. post a pointer to each image in rec.roller-coaster.  does that meet
  48. with everyone's approval?
