- This varies from state to state. Many (most?) do have provision for
- certification of shooters. Contact the fire department, or check the
- state lwas. (Most states provide a copy for each public library). Or
- contact the state fire marshall (or equivalent...).
-
- Or get to know some local profesional shooters, who can provide useful
- guidance.

- My experience in this area is limited, however i believe that hot wire,
- typically "fire once" is the preferred method of ignition. A light
- gauge wire, fired by a decent power source.

- Some will probably be offered, but if i can stay away from HV, i do.
- (For stuff like this. For its own sake, well I own three TEsla coils
- in various sizes... 8)>>) I have seen some interesting work done with
- Model a/c glow plugs, tho it would take testing. Possibly automotive
- size glow plugs?

- Don't recall a fiure off hand, but solder will melt somewhere above
- 500F, i think, and the usual controlled irons are in the 700 or 800
- degree range. Flash is risky. I wouldn't count on soldering iron heat
- NOT setting it off.

- PGII (read thru the FAQ) offers a course, aimed (8)>>) at the
- professional display shooter, not so much the SFX applications. Inquire
- carefully at the State Fire Marshalls (or wherever) office. Sometimes
- there are multiple types of license.

- Some times some controlled demos will do wonders for regulatory
- attidues (and sometimes not...). Also, you might inquire in
- alt.stagecraft.
