  17. After asking here and eager to get answers I made a brief inquiry
  18. before Xmas among the companies known to produce chlorinated
  19. rubber.

  21. Parlon is the trade mark of the company Hercules. The production of
  22. Parlon has stopped in 1988.

  24. ICI has also produced chlorinated rubber. Their trade mark was
  25. Alloprene. The production has stopped in 1992.

  27. The only producer still on market in Europe is Bayer. Their trade
  28. mark is Pergut. The plan is to stop the production within two
  29. years.

  31. The reason for these numerous stop downs is the Ozone Agreement:
  32. carbon tetrachloride used in the production of chlorinated rubber
  33. harms the ozone layer of the Earth. Thus, the production must be
  34. stopped.

  36. BTW, other trade marks for chlorinated rubber: Alloprene, Detel,
  37. Duroprene, Parevar, Pergut, Raolin, Tegotan, Tretol.

  39. I think that the Parlon containing formulations should be
  40. reformulated in order to replace chlorinated rubber by other
  41. binders and chlorine donors.
