  12. I've heard that if you get fabrics which have a smooth finish rather
  13. than something rough and nubby, cats aren't excited about scratching it.
  14. Our couch is a fairly smooth fabric and both Bast and Felix are happy with
  15. their various scratching posts or the cat house.  Felix does occasionally
  16. digress to the rug in the entryway, but after I caught him at it and 
  17. showed him a massive Primate Threat Display (where are you, sTella?), he
  18. reconsidered his position.  Anybody else found that smooth fabrics are
  19. less appealing?
