  36. I didn't interpret the thumping behavior as a response to feeling 
  37. threatened.  I think it was his way of communicating.  For example,
  38. when he thumped because he wanted a tortilla chip, we offered him 
  39. one, he gladly accepted, and that was that.  In the case of going 
  40. inside when he wanted to stay out, I think that was just his way
  41. of protesting the need to go out.  He didn't run away or anything.

  43. As to Dink's non-thumping, I would guess that you are right.  Betsy
  44. thumps at the drop of a hat, but Rocky, who we've had since he was   
  45. only about 8 weeks, has *never* thumped.

  47. I think you're right--the grunting is probably the equivalent of 
  48. Sputnik's thumping.  To my knowledge, he never thumped out of
  49. fright.  I'm hoping Rocky will become communicative to the extent
  50. of grunting, too.  Of course, he and Betsy both do the bunny dance.
