  20.      Background:  I'm from the Southwest, from a gun-owning and shooting 
  21.  family, and I think period firearms are absolutely cool.  I'm also in 
  22.  the authenticity side, so I'd be seriously annoyed if someone wanted to 
  23.  use their 1850 blackpowder gun.  Firearms are a real marginal inclusion 
  24.  in the Current Middle Ages, so if we're going to do it at all, we should  do it right.

  33.  Tough noogies.  It is period, and so long as we have competitions 
  34.  where the safety of bystanders is fully considered, I would say it's 
  35.  wonderful.  As above though, I don't see this as an area where we 
  36.  should waffle on the authenticity.  Anybody who wants to play guns 
  37.  at an SCA event should be willing to go whole hog and Do It Right.
