- I think will change--firstly due the major decrease in American
- military personnel in Europe (witness the dissolution of one branch
- already), and secondly because Europeans will have continuity in
- place. I think the administrative center *will* migrate to Nordmark.
- Even if no active effort is mounted to make it happen.
-
- Making Nordmark a Principality will make this happen even faster.
- Why? Because Principality officers and ex-officers are prime
- candidates to be Kingdom officers. Where better to find experienced
- people with a proven track record?
-
- The only other point that needs to be looked for is 'Kingdom
- focus'--the willingness and mind-set to consider *all* parts of the
- Kingdom when formulating policy and carrying out duties.

-
- You don't need Kingdom or Principality Law for this. The IKAC was
- started at a time when practically no one in the SCA outside of the
- West was doing any archery at all. Sir John Fitz-Rolf started it to
- encourage archery. The form was one designed to encourage
- inter-Kingdom rivalry. There is no bar to nordmark--or any other
- group or individual--from starting period-styled archery shoots. If
- it is in a competitive form, you are quite free to open the
- competition to all. Just publish the rules and ask local archers to
- enforce 'em and send in the scores.
-
- At the risk of some offense (which is not meant--either specifically
- or generally), I think I see a distressing trend here....
-
- Entirely too many people appear to think that there is a rule
- somewhere that says:
-
- Everything that is not compulsory, is forbidden.
-
- Such a rule *does*not*exist*.
-
- Those things that are compusory--are compulsory. Those things that
- are forbidden--are forbidden. There is a *large* area in the middle
- that is neither compulsory *nor* forbidden. You are completely free
- to 'roll your own' in that large area!
-
- So.... Find out what Corpora *requires* you to do. Find out what
- Corpora *forbids* you to do. Elsewhere--do what you damn well please.
- (Remember also, that you can actually take *advantage* of the US
- habits about 'self-reliance' and 'individuality' and stand up to the
- Board. They may back down if you present a strong self-assured case
- on a topic near and dear to your heart...)
