- I am an experienced racer of 1/10 electric off-road cars. Having
- moved from the San Francisco Bay area to the Boston area I find that
- there is not much happening near here when it comes to indoor off-road
- racing. There is a nearby oval track that's just starting to race
- 1/12 4-cell cars on carpet in the infield of the oval track. I'm
- thinking of giving it a try.
-
- I'm looking for advice about how to get started:
-
- 12L versus 12LW, fiberglass versus graphite: Which is easiest to
- learn to set up to handle consistently?
-
- Are there some aftermarket parts that are not too expensive but
- make the car easier to set up or more reliable?
-
- What tires/traction compound should I start with?
-
- Can I do OK for awhile with 48 pitch gears or must I spring immediately
- for 64 pitch? I have a large set of 48 pitch pinions from off-road.
-
- What is a good stock motor for 1/12 4-cell racing? What brushes/springs
- do you run? How is it geared (approximately)? Should I run
- SCRC or P-170 cells?
-
- Are there any good books that explain this stuff?
-
- Thanks,
-
