- I ran across this name when I was doing some research on an article I am
- writing and found some interesting things...The FIRST MA'er to appear on
- National Television in the United States was Bruce Tegner and Ed Parker.
- Bruce T. appeared on "Ozzie & Harriet" and "The Detectives" and numerous
- other shows as early as 1950. Bruce was also a fight choreographer for
- film and television during the 50's and 60's. Bruce T. was also the first
- in the US to produce a national magazine related to the Martial Arts and
- featured personalities and technique interviews the mag was called JUDO
- and was produced in 1952. Bruce T. was also the auther of several
- "how-to-books" on the martial arts including: Karate, Chinese Boxing,
- Savate, Fencing, and Collegiate <spell checker doesn't work??> Wrestling.
- When I first ran across some of these books back in the 70's I thought
- they were "rip-off"'s produced by a "nobody" apparently I didn't realize
- the the works I were looking at may have been dated but should have been
- picked up for historical value.
