  19. It's my understanding that the OED compilers recently decided to give it up
  20. and pass the job on to those in whose vicinity the language was continuing to
  21. evolve.  That may have been an erroneous report, however, as it was published
  22. in a journal which originated in Canada if my memory serves me correctly.  I
  23. wish I had saved the article, as I doubted its authenticity at the time and 
  24. still find it incredible that any academic would abandon a project whose
  25. funding had not been exhausted...
