  19. I've been wondering about the deterioration there for a while myself.  
  20. It appears that she now speaks what could only be considered a dialect 
  21. of the central core language.  The mainstream version seems more closely 
  22. related to the form found on the news broadcasts of both sides of the 
  23. pond.  It's been amazing to me just how much like Canadians the BBC radio 
  24. broadcasters have become.  But then, England is a small country which 
  25. does not even entirely control the island on which it is found; English 
  26. is a far broader concept and is no longer subject to Her Majesty's whims.
  27. Or those of American pedants who would have us standardize the spellings
  28. of various things.  Unlike French, which has an organization dedicated
  29. to keeping control of the language out of the hands of the peasantry, 
  30. English is defined by its users...and sometimes, misusers.
