- I've been wondering about the deterioration there for a while myself.
- It appears that she now speaks what could only be considered a dialect
- of the central core language. The mainstream version seems more closely
- related to the form found on the news broadcasts of both sides of the
- pond. It's been amazing to me just how much like Canadians the BBC radio
- broadcasters have become. But then, England is a small country which
- does not even entirely control the island on which it is found; English
- is a far broader concept and is no longer subject to Her Majesty's whims.
- Or those of American pedants who would have us standardize the spellings
- of various things. Unlike French, which has an organization dedicated
- to keeping control of the language out of the hands of the peasantry,
- English is defined by its users...and sometimes, misusers.
-
- Just be glad we don't have to code in it.
