Someone posted that they believe Alabama completely prohibits handgun carry.
Not so. The only legal handgun carry in Alabama is concealed with a permit.
This permit is required for carry in a vehicle. Words from the license: "License to (CARRY A REVOLVER OR PISTOL CONCEALED ON THE PERSON) or (CARRY A REVOLVER
OR PISTOL IN A VEHICLE) is hereby granted.... " The license if valid for 1
year, and costs $10 (up from $5 last year). The license is valid for the entire
state, although a county license is available. They are issued by the county of residence, but I don't know about non-resident permits.
