- I'm not familiar with the exact word offhand, but in Russian, the prefix
- Samo- is roughly equivalent to "self-" or "auto-" whence I would suppose
- that first word translates to something roughly equivalent to "automatic,"
- in the substantive sense we apply to many firearms.
