- #R6700CH Sporter Competition HBAR
- #$799 Range Selected w/ scope & accessories.
-
- Could it be $999?
-
- #%(my comment) I wonder who the scope manufacturer is? Anyone know?
-
- I was told that the scope was made by Tasco.
-
- #%(my opinion) I question the above reasoning as the only difference is
- #the top sight/handle which once attached (securely - I hope) should
- #not significantly change the integrity of the rifle. However, if they
- #- COLT - were sloppy in the design of the machining tools to make this
- #model - then problems such as accuracy may occur. Any opinions on
- #this? Any experiences??
-
- I can only speak of my experiences. Note that I've only shot my AR-15
- *once* and put about 150 rounds through it. The accuracy was quite
- good. I could knock down bowling pins at 200 yards from time to time.
- However, I'm not very happy about their workmanship. My AR-15 *RATTLES*
- after only 150 rounds. I think the rattles come from the upper and
- lower receivers fit. Anyone has suggestions on how to get rid of the rattles?
-
- #R6700 Sporter Competition HBAR
- #$749
-
- This is the one I have. I paid $650 for it.
-
- #All COLT HBAR models have counterbored muzzle and rifling twist of one
- #turn in 9". I heard that one other manufacturer uses one turn in 12".
-
- This is different from my understanding. All Colt HBAR models, except
- competition HBAR, have 1 in 7" twist rate.
-
- #%I was told by a local NRA instructor (Army Reservest type) that the
- #1:9 is better on light bullets while the 1:12 is better for the
- #heavier. Any comments on this?
-
- I think it is the other way around. The heavier bullets need faster
- twist rates to stablize them. Am I right?
