- #It seems somewhat inexpensive for a .45 handgun.
-
- Yeah they are low dollar but they can be rerworked to improve both accuracy
- and looks.
-
- The frame and slide are made by Essex Arms in Vermont and most of the parts
- used internally are Govt. surplus. taken out of the Gun Parts Corp.
- inventory. I have used Essex frames and slides to build up match grade
- pistols and have never had a complaint with their quality.
-
- As for the Auto Ordinance offerings, sometimes you get a good one and
- sometimes not. I guess it all depends on who put it together and what kind of
- mood they were in. :-) I've seen several that have had some junk internal
- parts and worn out surplus barrels and I've seen several that have all brand
- new parts/new barrels so it would be worth your while to carefully inspect it
- before you plunk down the cash.
-
- All in all its a good platform to start out with if low dollar output is a
- consideration because it will at least get you into the game and as funds
- permit, every part (except the frame) can be easily replaced or upgraded by
- the user or his favorite 'Smith.
-
- I've upgraded several for customers who participate in the action shooting
- sports and they shoot just as good as the high ticket items do.
