- Having never seen such a kit, I cannot say whether you would need a
- gunsmith for such a kit. Being an apprentice gunsmith and QUITE
- familiar with 700BDL and 700ADL construction, I can say that it would
- be easier on a BDL than an ADL to make one from scratch and could be
- done by a competent gunsmith. You also might be able to do it
- yourself if you are a competent machinist.
-
- I see the steps as follows:
-
- 1) Remove drop door from floorplate.
- 2) Obtain magazine which would fit inside resulting hole.
- 3) Fabricate clips on bottom side of receiver to hold magazine
- up into "magazine well".
-
- All of this would require careful fitting, but since the only critical
- thing is that the ammo feed (you are not making chamber or bolt
- modifications), I don't think there is any issue of safety here. It
- will either work, or it won't.
