- I had a friend who didn't trust the 1911 safety, and insisted on de-
- cocking the pistol after each shooting string that didn't empty the
- magazine. He would use a two-handed technique by grabbing the hammer
- spur between the thumb and forefinger of his left hand and pull the
- trigger with his right. This left NOTHING between hammer and firing
- pin during the de-cocking process. I know this because he almost shot
- my foot when his left hand slipped. Bloodied his left hand, too. Use
- the <bleepin> safety instead.
