- Hi,
- I was at Mrytle Grove Shooting Range at lunch today trying out
- my new Colt Sporter. In addition to the two 5 round magazines that
- came with the gun, I brought along four 20 round magazines that I got
- at a gun show a couple of weeks ago.
- I really enjoyed shooting and sighting in the gun
- (even without the help of our favorite moderator - who's range is
- still being renovated :)). The one problem was the four "used"
- magazines. Two of them would not allow the cartridge to be reliably
- stripped by the bolt and fed into the chamber. I could not see any
- noticable difference between the "bad" and the "good" magazines, but
- my Colt sure could. Why do I get the feeling that this is old news
- to AR-15 & Colt Sporter owners? What looked like a good deal ($5.00
- per magazine), now looks like a lousy one.
- If in fact, the AR's are really sensitive to feed lip damage
- on the magazines, does anyone make a plastic or rubber cover to
- protect the top of the magazine? Probably would double as a dust-
- cover as well.
