  24. For the same reason one grows tomatos:  the taste and texture of the freshly
  25. harvested home-grown article is so incredibly much more marvelous than what
  26. is available commercially.  I grew potatoes in the ground one year, harvested
  27. them in October, stored them on an unused pantry shelf, and they were marvel-
  28. ous until February, when they started tasting like store-bought potatoes.

  30. Not to mention that they were cheaper than store-bought, and the activity of
  31. gardening is good for you (fresh air, exercise, etc.).
