- For the same reason one grows tomatos: the taste and texture of the freshly
- harvested home-grown article is so incredibly much more marvelous than what
- is available commercially. I grew potatoes in the ground one year, harvested
- them in October, stored them on an unused pantry shelf, and they were marvel-
- ous until February, when they started tasting like store-bought potatoes.

- gardening is good for you (fresh air, exercise, etc.).
