- -> What is the proper method of tipping at blackjack?
- -> I am intereseted in things like frequency/amount.
- -> Also for tipping the dealer by betting for him and you
- -> win the hand. (For example, you bet $5 for yourself and
- -> $1 for the dealer.) If you win normal, do you give the
- -> delear the $1 won, or $2. If you win the hand with a
- -> blackjack or after splitting or doubling down what do
- -> you do?
-
- One dollar when you are betting $5 is fine, but leave the dealer the
- whole winnings ($2) - just pick up your own winnings and leave the rest
- sitting there, the dealer will say thank-you and take the $2. (If
- he/she doesn't say anything, that should be their last tip from you).
- Also, remember that most casinos have the dealers pool all the tips, so
- you may be tipping a great dealer, but she has to share it with the
- sourpuss that just dealt to you and reshuffled every time the count went
- high. Don't know how to get around that one (any ideas anyone). As for
- how often to tip, I like to tip when the count is positive, to friendly
- dealers only, to dealers that don't make counting too difficult, and
- when I'm winning - if you are up $50, I think it would be reasonable to
- have tipped up to $5 by then. If you split or double down, don't
- increase the bet to tip the dealer again (just double down for less, or
- split for less - if they won't let you, take that money if you win). If
- you win a blackjack, leave the $2.50 for the dealer.
