  19. Today I received my RSCDS Bulletin -- it lists all sorts of books, dance
  20. paraphernalia and contacts.  (RSCDS=Royal Scottish Country Dance Society)

  22. Let's see: Edinburgh has 1275 members.  Toronto has 875.  But since many
  23. of Edinburgh's members are not active dancers while few of Toronto's are,
  24. and many more Toronto's dancers aren't even RSCDS members, it's quite
  25. possible that Toronto has more Scottish Country Dancers than any other
  26. place.  Last August we did a 512-some reel -- biggest Scottish Country
  27. Dance in history.  It's in the Guinness Book of Records.

  29. As for the U.S., San Francisco has about 500 members, L.A. about 300,
  30. and Boston over 300.

  32. The per-capita highest is probably New Zealand.  With a popolation not
  33. much higher than Singapore, they have 1462.

  35. Singapore doesn't appear to have an RSCDS Branch.  But there is an affiliated
  36. group: The Singapore St. Andrew's Society.  Secretary: Mrs. M. Aitken,
  37. 8 Deal Road, Medway Park, Singapore 0513.  That is probably your best
  38. starting point.  RSCDS membership is probably around S$25.

  40. There are many fine books, but my favourite one is Miss Jean Milligan's
  41. classic little tome: "Won't You Join the Dance?".
