- These days a lot of the commemorative coins have surcharges tacked on
- for fund-raising purposes. The market will often ignore these surcharges
- later on, because they have little to do with the coin's actual value.
- Thus, these coins will sometimes trade at below the original issue price.

- This doesn't apply as much to bullion coins, which the original discussion
- was about. However, the U.S. Mint does seem to overcharge a bit for
- bullion too.
