- I don't know if the name is a misnomer, but the New Jersey Audubon Society
- (no relation to the National Audubon Society) has a location in Tennent NJ
- called the Owl Haven Nature Center. It's on Englishtown-Freehold Road
- (route 522) and the phone number is (908) 780-7007.
-
- I have not been to that Nature Center yet, but I frequent the Rancocas Nature
- Center (also NJAS) which is on the far side of the Rancocas State Forest from
- me. I've heard owls around my house at night in the fall (Hainesport,
- Burlington County), but have only spotted one, being chased by crows during
- the day, a mile from here. Being very close to the State Forest and the
- Rancocas Creek, this is very good territory for spotting birds of prey during
- the day, particularly hawks.
