  12. A scrub jay has begun coming and taking peanuts from my hand (!) and then
  13. flying off and hiding them - I've seen this a number of times - including
  14. for a hiding place the pile of garden clippings where the jay carefully
  15. covered the peanut with the clippings.

  17. So. Is this jay a male or female? and why do they do what appears really
  18. fairly inefficient?
