- Actually, a solid axle with two nuts and washers is lighter than a hollow axle
- with a quick release skewer. Think about it. The weight of two nuts and
- washers, and the extra grams of the axle is less than the weight of the
- QR skewer nut and lever mechanism. Not a great deal if difference, though.

- Also, the difference of strength between a hollow axle and a solid axle of
- the same material is quite trivial. The meat in the centre doesn't do too much
- in making it more bend-resistant.
