- Just a comment on the butted vs straight gage spokes: I've never
- seen a spoke break EXCEPT at the bend - and this includes butted
- spokes. Therefore, I figure you don't need the extra beef of a
- straight gage spoke.
-
- On the front wheel of my favorite bike, I've got bladed spokes
- (from Performance). From what I understand, in almost any situation,
- aerodynamics are more important than weight. This is certainly true
- in the front wheel - "rotating weight" notwithstanding. The bladed
- spokes have less drag than butted ones.
-
- How much less? I can't say I can FEEL the difference - but
- intellectually, I know it's there. Maybe it's good for inspiration.
