- Hello fellow QUAD-owners!
-
- I'm in the market for a new and hopefully better amp for
- my QUAD ESL63:s. The easy way out is of course to use QUAD:s own
- 405 or 606, but it would be nice to hear of any good sounding
- alternatives. I suppose electrastatic loudspeakers are somewhat
- hard on the amp, so the normal amp-of-the-month won't do, or?
- My current amplifier (a swedish thing called Sentec PA8,
- a 70W design from the days when Matti Ottala was king.) sound very
- harsh at medium-to-high levels, and runs very easy into clipping.
- I have not heard the speakers with descent amplification, to be
- honest, but I suppose they can do alot better than with my amp.
-
- So:
-
- If you use the 63:s, what amp are you using? Do you like it?

- PS. What is the difference between QUAD 405 and 405-2 ? DS.
