  35. Once I saw an offhand reference in _Stereophile_ to the "dishonesty" of
  36. _Audio_'s approach and to Julian Hirsch's "honesty".  And I have to agree,
  37. based only on what I've read from the two.  Len *knows* that he's heard
  38. differences in electronics and CD players, has said so on occasion, but even
  39. so, he usually sticks to the "everything sounds the same" line.

  41. Whereas Julian Hirsch really does seem to believe that everything (except
  42. speakers) sounds the same.

  44. And, let's face it -- if you aren't going to sit down and *listen* -- if you're
  45. going to use a stereo system for what is essentially background music (whether
  46. you're at home alone, or throwing a party) -- most of the subtle differences
  47. between components are probably not very meaningful to you.
