- Yes, this is what all the Sony adds say for the read rate. It's
- basically the same as the rate for the CD. But I haven't seen
- anything that talks about the write speed. Someone in this group
- thought the rate was slower than the CD which is part of the reason for
- using compression.

- The MD is also designed so the track/sector type information can be
- read off the disk faster than the CD format - which also improves
- seeks times. But still, I don't expect it to be as fast as a
- floppy - but I sure would like it if it were.

- BTW, at the higher read rate, it only takes about 15 minutes to read
- the entire disk (not 74).
