- I hate getting in this kind of argument, especially when I am leaving
- for my vacation tomorrow. But I can't take it anymore, I just have to
- say something.
-
- Claude,
-
- True. If I have 8 thousand dollars on a stereo system, I wouldn't give
- a NAD CD player any kind of consideration. But that doesn't mean I think
- NAD cannot make a CD player. And it sure wouldn't prompt me to think
- that NAD cannot possible make anything decent.
-
- Ok. A NAD CD player does not compare favorably against a Cal player. But
- think about this: a top-of-the-line NAD 5000 is listed $500 while a
- entry-level Cal is listed $850 (if my memory serve me correctly.) Have
- you compared the NAD player to the other players in the price category?
- Or maybe you think all CD player that does not measure up against your
- Cal player is a piece of junk regardless of its price?
-
- If I would follow your logic, I can probably declare Spica TC-50 is a
- piece of junk because its performance is far from that of Thiel CS1.2.
- And Spica is lucky that they do not make any other stereo products
- otherwise I can probably declare that they are all worthless, too.
-
- Don't forget, an expensive stereo system is very unforgiving. You don't
- insert a PSB Alpha into a 10k reference system to see if it performs
- well. Nobody does that. People who buys a NAD player are probably those
- who are thinking about building a 1k to 2k system. (Perhaps a student?)
-
- Even if you still think that the NAD player is a bad news, don't declare
- their other products dead. Just about every audio company out there had
- made something less than perfect sometime along the line. But most of
- them still have good products (otherwise they won't be in business.)
-
- Well, this is all I have to say. I am sure this post will induce a
- couple of flames. Thank goodness I won't be here to read them.
