  27. Firstly, Stereophile is hardly and underground mag.  Snobby?  Well ok,
  28. it might be snobby, but not underground.

  30. Does Sterophile hate Carver?  Who cares if they do or not.

  32. I was not a fan of Carver long before picking up my first copy of
  33. a high end mag.  I used to like Carver until I started to compare
  34. it to other amps in the same price range.  I found so many others
  35. that sounded much better to my ears.  Carver makes a much better
  36. amp than Sony or Pioneer, but not near as good as Hafler or
  37. Parasound (to my ears anyway).

  48. I think a lot of it is that Carver keeps claiming that they
  49. can beat any amp at any price.  They make an Ok amp in their
  50. price range and that's fine.  However, they run around telling
  51. everyone that their $700 amp can beat any $10,000 amp.  That's
  52. an attitude that pisses off peole who know better.

  54. If his <$1000 amp is so good, why does he make a pair of tube
  55. monoblocks for $20,000?

  57. Not only does it piss off a lot of people that he has this
  58. attitude, but that he convinces so many other people of it.
  59. He convinces them so well that they won't even listen to
  60. other amps.  They see him as kind of a con man.
