- I really doubt it. I'm sure that neither Philips or Sony allowed
- any hint of their technology out of their development stages. With both
- algorithms designed separately, the chance of similarity are pretty small.
- I don't think we'll see a combined MD/DCC machine in several years.

- No good. If you have ever seen an MD, you know that it comes in
- its own little plastic casing. You can't even see the actual disc without
- opening it. In order to redesign the CD player you'd have to add an
- entirely new laser read-head, as well as develop a way for the current CD
- tray to adapt to the new casing. In other words, you'd basically have to
- create a whole new component anyway. It would just be two components in
- one. No real savings except for space.
