  21.   * SRI LANKAN GARMENT WORKERS INJURED IN STRIKE

  23. COLOMBO, Dec 14 - Police used batons and tear gas to disperse hundreds of 
  24. striking Sri Lankan garment workers on Monday and hospital sources said 
  25. 42 workers needed treatment.
  26.        Police said about 600 workers, mainly women, from five factories had 
  27. gone on strike over year-end bonuses, pay rises and working conditions at 
  28. the Katunayake Free Trade Zone in Colombo.  Police charged after the workers 
  29. defied orders to disperse. Katunayake is one of three zones set up by the 
  30. government to attract foreign investment.
