  24. Well, I think misc.kids *is* a safe place to get information-
  25. I have been amazed at the support and caring and willingness
  26. to share resources and information here. And I know there
  27. are plenty of parents out here (including single moms)
  28. who share your interests and concerns.

  30. But as the person who started the dialogue (to put it
  31. politely) on men saying "we're pregnant", allow me
  32. to explain:

  34. For me, as a feminist and linguist (and person), semantics
  35. *are* important - more important, I guess, than they are
  36. to the many people who replied, basically, "chill out".
  37. Language is what we use to express what we think and feel, and
  38. I think the words we choose are (often) significant - and
  39. certainly in this case, for me. And believe me, if the 
  40. phrase had been used in my house, it *would* have been
  41. a "real parenting issue"! ;)

  43. And I like that I can ask about Isabel's constipation,
  44. share a cute story, reply to a childcare question, *and*
  45. participate in discussions that are more "philosophical".
  46. And if people sometimes post without thinking first, or
  47. flame unecessarily, well, it happens. In most cases, I
  48. think people mean well.
