  22. Actually, I am of the camp that believes a dictionary *does not* define what
  23. a word means; rather a large group of people using and understanding a word
  24. defines what it means.  And based on that critereon, I would say that the
  25. phrase "we are pregnant" is technically correct, simply because large numbers
  26. of people are using the term, and it seems most people are understanding what
  27. is meant (even if they dislike the term).  In fact, I think it is a useful
  28. phrase in that it does carry a connotation different than "my wife is
  29. pregnant" or "we are expecting" in that it implies a tighter or closer to
  30. equal sharing of the joys and trials of pregnancy.  To some, that is a
  31. positive implication, to others, not.  As to which term people should use,
  32. I agree with the philosphy of deferring to the preference of the person or
  33. couple who is pregnant as to which she or they prefer.
