- Would you tell the police to stop using there lights and sirens, to
- drive with in the limit on there way to your home when some one is
- tring
- to break in. Are the firefighters in your little town allowed to use
- lights and siren on a fire truck? 5 or 10 seconds may not sound like a
- lot of time unless you are the one waiting for the help. Do you yeild
- the right of way to the firefighter on his way to the hall? Do the
- drivers of the fire trucks in your town have to complete a defensive
- drivers course or can the first person there drive ?
- Blue lights on my car only tell the person that is in front of me
- that I'm a firefighter on the way to the hall in an emergency.
- Hopefully they will pull over and let me pass. That blue light might
- save
- some ones life or pervent some one from getting in the way of a
- firefighter on the way to a call. As far as driving recklessly is
- concerned, blue light or not some people will still dive like there
- on the way to a fire and it should be up to the police or the chief
- of the fire company to discipline any one that drives recklessly.
- I've been in enough burning buildings not because I'm paid but
- becuase I feel its part of my civic duty. I'm well trained and
- anything that can help protect me on the way to a fire I should have.
- 5 or 10 seconds, ask the victim of a house fire if they would want to
- wait for the firefighter to save there kids or even there pets. How
- many times I've heard " way did it take you so long to get here"
