- The City of Margate, Florida is in the process of setting up a CAD
- (Computer Aided Dispatch) and Fire Reports System. I have been assigned
- to the project for about a year now and we are planning to go live with
- the system the end of January or begining of February. Although our
- system is set up to use MDT's we don't presently have them in
- operation.
- It is a long process into building up the data base for the city. In a
- City like Boston it would require thousands of hours to enter the data
- and then physically verify that it is correct. There would be a lot
- of problems with numbering as I remember the confussing numbering of
- building when I lived in the Back Bay area years ago. The system is
- great for satistics. You can get any information with the touch of key
- from the information you have entered about your calls. When an alarm
- is
- dispatched the calls can be sent to the Fire Stations, Engines or
- Rescues via hard copy. I don't know a lot about the use of MDT's at
- this
- point as we are planning to impliment them later into our system.
