- A couple of rescue squads/fire departments in my area here are using the
- "FireCom" system (I don't remember the manufacturer). A friend gave me a demo
- on their setup the other day:
-
- - up to 6 intercom circuits - 3 with radio transmit capability, 3 I/C only
- (multiple headsets can be "chained" on a single circuit; I don't know the
- total number of headsets that can be handled)
- - intercom is always "hot" (uses adjustable VOX)
- - transmit button on headset for radio; radio audio through headsets
- - adjustable headset volume; master volume on control unit
- - control unit has 30-second digital audio recorder - records all I/C and
- radio traffic; can be replayed through headsets; I/C still active during
- playback
-
- Their system (2 headsets) was somewhere around $1300. All in all, looks like
- a nice setup; our squad may consider bying one for our crash truck.
