  13. I'm about to paint the parlor ceiling in my 100-year old Victorian. 
  14. There are some minor cracks in the lath and plaster that I'm going
  15. to patch before painting.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?  Any 
  16. products that you can recommend or warn everyone about?

  18. Some of the books I've read suggest enlarging a crack into a 
  19. dovetail shape so that they'll hold the patching compound better.  
  20. This seems counterproductive to me since the cracks that exist
  21. are really pretty small right now.  Any advice is welcome.  I'll
  22. summarize mail responses, but feel free to respond here on the net.
