- We used a Rainbow vacuum cleaner + attachments. We are VERY pleased with the
- results. This would be the same as a steam cleaner, but it uses only water and
- a cleaner, not steam. The carpet feels better than the time Sears came out.
- Also since I did it myself and its my house, I took more time and care.

-
- You can buy the stain guard at a carpet selling place. It costs about $40 for
- enough to cover about 2000 Sq Ft. The profesionals use a pump up sprayer you
- can buy at a local hardware store. Then they spray the carpet. Sounds like it
- takes a lot of brains to do this. The better way would be to spray a small
- section, brush the area to get complete coverage, and then vacuum the residue
- when dry. The pros wont brush.
-
- So I would do it yourself. It takes some time, a bit of cash, but the results
- are the same, if not better. And consider cost. For our house about 2000 sf of
- carpet, it would have cost only $75 to clean BUT $300 to protect it!!!!!
