  25. FMLN Prepares for 1994 Salvadoran Elections
  26.  
  27. The Farabundo Marti National Liberation Frunt (FMLN), which became
  28. a recognized political party in El Salvador last week, elected its
  29. highest level representatives on Dec. 21 in preparation for the
  30. 1994 elections. Former Commander Shafick Handal is the candidate
  31. with the greatest possibility of being elected by the national
  32. convention to hold the position of General Coordinator. FMLN
  33. leaders also elected the members of the party's National Board,
  34. made up of 50 members. The Democratic Convergance (CD), a
  35. left-wing coalition, had a meeting with its grass-roots membership
  36. on Dec. 20 to design an electroal strategly for 1994. The Popular
  37. Social Christian Movement of Ruben Zamora, the Social Democratic
  38. Party and the formerly communist Democratic Nationalist Union of
