  11. Today's (Sunday) LA Times has an article on page 3 that covers the
  12. emerging license plate issue for California: there will be at least 12
  13. new designs for our license plates!  Seems the lawmakers are trying to
  14. find new sources of revenue...of them all, the Yosemite design looks
  15. like my favorite.  Some of the new ones will allow graphic "hearts"
  16. "stars" and "hands"; to me, they look hokey --takes the subtelty out
  17. of the message.

  19. The article also mentioned that California law enforcement agencies
  20. are not being consulted about the designs, and are generally against
  21. them--difficulty in reading (how do you describe a heart
  22. phonetically?).
