- Isin't this interesting, so that a few hundred people can live in nifty
- old homes, (which could be relocated you know). Tens of thousands of man
- hours a year will be pissed away in traffic jams that should NOT be there.
-
-
- Up ladder Jack, I'm inboard.
-
- The fact that the anti-freeway folks miss is that the traffic is already
- there, it must be delt with first, pious handwaving about 'well YOU shoud
- ride the bus (3.5 hour commute for me) or the train, (let's see, $3.50
- each way Industry <-> downtown 20 minute ride, a bit expensive but time is
- OK, now how to get from Downtown to UCLA, Bus <two Hours and $2.00>, that's
- 2:20 and $5.50 each way, best case ask me again when I only have to change
- once (subway along Wilshire)).
-
- Finish the freeway system first (the Century Fwy will unclog the East LA
- interchange, I-5 and ease congestion in the southbay as well. The 710
- extention [and for god's sake don't dump it onto the Pasadena (110) FWY,
- that's already bad enough] will unload the 710/10 interchange, the 10-605
- interchange, Valley Blvd (the 710 dumps out onto Valley, it takes up to 30
- minutes under pathalogical conditions to travel the 1.25 miles from I10 to
- Valley) and also open I-5 a bit.
-
- THEN finish off the subway system (subways have the wonderful advantage
- of not getting jammed up by other traffic (the second major problem with
- busses) and not jamming up other traffic (the first problem with
- busses).
