I love Taiwan. There are always things that bother me in day to day life, because of the cultural differences or the language barrier, but the Chinese people are generally very nice and I love living here.

I am a Junior in high school. My dad is a signaling engineer for the subway system that they are putting in here. I am a white American from Rochester, New York.

I would not be able to say, because I do not have much personal contact with many Chinese women. Most of the Chinese people that I do have contact with go to my school and have been influenced by American culture.

DR>in Taiwan?
If women are married, they can get an abortion with their husband's consent, if they are not married they have to have their boyfriend's consent. Even though that is the law, I think abortions are readily available to women even without the man's consent. Many laws in Taiwan are not paid attention to and are not enforced.
DR>What is situation like now in Taiwan in geeneral with regard to womens
DR>rights and equality in the society and workplace?
Many women work here. Chinese have a very strong work ethic and most of the time everyone who is able to work does, usually in family businesses.
DR>How much do women from Taiwan travel and learn about new cultures?
It depends on how rich they are. Some of them have been all over the world and seen more of America than most Americans.
DR>How prejudiced is Taiwan culture on hbasis of education or race etc?
Chinese people think that education is very important and they might think badly of a person who is not educated. Most "city" people (that came from the mainland) are prejudiced against the mountain people (natives). Chinese people are very prejudiced against black people. My mom says that they think that all black people are criminals and that they get that from watching American movies.
